The Labour Court recommended that Limerick Corporation, the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and I.M.P.A.C.T. redistribute work among crews collecting wheelie bins, then review the system's work-study measures. The recommendation was signed on 14 July 1995. The unions sought a fifth vehicle or an £80 weekly pay increase, saying four vehicles could not manage the workload. Limerick Corporation proposed reorganising routes and linking overtime to collection targets. The Court found that workloads were uneven and the system was not firmly established. The Court recommended that the parties redistribute work as evenly as possible and send three months of results to the I.P.C. for proposals on standard-minute values and contingency allowances. Both sides should accept the resulting appraisal.
