The Labour Court recommended that Premier Dairies Limited relocate its garage while keeping the garage employees as direct company employees, with Rathfarnham remaining their base. The recommendation was signed on 7 July 1995. The company said it needed the garage space at Rathfarnham for a chill store. The Union Of Motor Trade Technical And Industrial Employees said the six workers wanted to remain with the company and feared losing earnings through redeployment. The Court recommended retaining their craft status and restricting redeployment to acceptable craft jobs. During construction, the workers were to be assigned between Rathfarnham and the new location. After the work, the parties were to review the arrangement and commission an independent survey on whether a garage could be located on site.
