Labour Court recommends Aer Lingus cleaning proposals

In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that Aer Lingus’s proposals for its premises cleaning agreement be incorporated and accepted by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The union had sought more staff, smaller cleaning areas and changes to supervision, hours and leave cover. The company argued that its proposal could maintain standards with 40 staff and that more staffing and overtime would make in-house cleaning unviable. The recommendation was signed on 13 July 1995. The Court also recommended that the parties could meet after 12 months to review the cleaning section if necessary.
