In 1995, the Labour Court recommended terms for organisational changes at Shannonside Co-op Limited, including five weeks’ pay per year of service plus statutory entitlements for redundancy. The recommendation was signed on 10 April 1995. Employees redeployed were to retain their basic pay and applicable shift pay for two years, after which the co-op and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union should review the wage structure. The Court recommended that the co-op’s selectivity proposals be accepted and that its proposals on manning, flexibility and interchangeability be accepted by the workforce. It also urged agreement on a grievance and disciplinary procedure.
