In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that Tipperary (NR) County Council pay £500 to each of five employees in full and final settlement of a dispute over compensation after the council privatised its refuse service. The recommendation was signed on 11 April 1995. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said redeployment had reduced the workers’ earnings and could affect their pensionable pay. The council had offered £340 to the chargehand driver and £230 to each of the four refuse helpers.
