The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for national pay increases at Lever Industrial. The recommendation was signed on 12 April 1995. The union sought increases under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress for 1991 to 1993 and the Programme for Competitiveness and Work for 1994 and 1995 for four sales representatives. Lever Industrial had introduced a performance appraisal pay system after acquiring Ranger Hygiene. The Court said the system’s increases appeared to meet the relevant national agreement criteria and found no grounds to concede the union’s claim.
