The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claims for extra payments linked to roster changes at Stena Sealink Line. The recommendation was signed on 4 April 1995. The union sought overtime and rest-day payments for 36 general operatives after a fast craft ferry was introduced on the Dun Laoghaire–Holyhead route. The Court said the claims did not fit the industry’s requirements, but recommended negotiations over the company’s change to rest days without prior negotiation and any future roster changes.
