Labour Court declines pension claim by Irish Fertilizer Industries technicians

In 1995, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding a union claim that shift-related payments for instrument technicians at Irish Fertilizer Industries be included in pension calculations. Manufacture Science Finance argued the payments were equivalent to overtime and excluded by scheme rules. The Court said the claim had merit but that granting it at the time would conflict with the Programme for Competitiveness and Work, given the company's financial history. It recommended that the parties examine the cost of extending pension benefits. The recommendation was signed on 21 March 1995.
