In 1994, the Labour Court recommended that Bank of Ireland offer a porter the first available post at 2 College Green, or another post acceptable to him, while he accepted the James Street post in the meantime. The Court found the Bank had made little effort to find a suitable location matching his preferences, despite a commitment in its October 1993 letter. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said he had expected to move to College Green, where vacancies were filled by temporary staff and an external applicant. The Bank said James Street had always been its intended location and that the porter had not applied for the College Green post. The Court recommended that the parties review the situation if no suitable location was agreed by March 1995. Its recommendation was dated 15 December 1994.
