Labour Court rejects union claim over full-time switchboard work at St. Joseph’s Hospital

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

The Labour Court declined the union’s claim that three workers should continue operating the switchboard full time at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Clonmel. Its recommendation was dated 22 November 1994. The union said the workers had operated the switchboard full time since 1989 and had completed a computer course at their own expense. The South Eastern Health Board said the weekday role was a grade II clerical post to be filled through an advertised competition, which the workers had not entered.
