Labour Court declines union claim for cash rewards at Nacanco

The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for compensation under Nacanco Limited’s Quality Improvement Scheme. The recommendation was signed on 1 November 1994. The union sought payments for suggestions that produced significant savings, arguing the company had not made an appropriate financial award. Nacanco said its worldwide policy did not provide cash recognition or single out individual ideas. The Court found that the company was not in breach of the agreement and had met its obligation to assess an award.
