The Labour Court recommended that a casual dock worker who believed recruitment arrangements were applied unfairly raise the issue with SIPTU for investigation. Its recommendation, signed on 1 November 1994, concerned D F Doyle and Company Limited and the worker’s dispute over hiring at the Port of Cork. The worker said the selection process favoured some people and denied others a fair share of available work. The company said it knew of no problem and that long-standing arrangements with SIPTU governed recruitment.
