Labour Court sends 3% pay claim at L & N Supermarket back to talks

Historic decision · Decision date:

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

In 1994, the Labour Court referred the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s 3% pay claim for workers at L & N Supermarket in Tipperary town back to local negotiations. The Court found the claim legitimate under the agreement and noted the union was willing to consider trade-offs or phasing. L & N Supermarket had offered a 1% increase in return for an option to extend late-night opening; the union rejected the offer. The Court recommended that the parties negotiate further and said they could refer the issue back if they had not reached an agreement by 30 September 1994. The recommendation was signed on 14 August 1994.
