In 1994, the Labour Court recommended against claims by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union for retrospective breakfast allowance payments for production workers at Cadbury Ireland Limited. The unions sought £100 payments, pointing to arrangements for other groups. Cadbury Ireland Limited argued that separate settlements reflected different circumstances and that granting the claims would reopen earlier agreements. The Court concluded that the company had acted reasonably in extending the allowance arrangements and did not recommend conceding the claims. The recommendation was signed on 11 August 1994.
