Labour Court rejects Muckross Park Hotel pay claim for four workers

In 1994, the Labour Court found that Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's claim for higher pay for four workers at Muckross Park Hotel was not soundly based. The recommendation was signed on 8 August 1994. The union said the workers were paid less than comparators at the hotel. The hotel said wage rates had been negotiated individually under previous owners, the four workers had received significant increases since 1993, and management had introduced a more uniform structure for new employees. The Court accepted that the comparator rates were personal to those employees and effectively red-circled.
