The Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept The Office Of Public Works’ proposals for 13 general operatives transferred from Coillte to the John F. Kennedy arboretum. The recommendation was signed on 21 June 1994. The proposals placed the workers on the OPW pay scale while protecting their existing earnings through personal allowances. The Court found they had not been disadvantaged in their current pay or treated unreasonably by the proposed future pay structure. It noted that the OPW accepted a case might arise if Coillte applied a recent special payment.
