In 1994, the Labour Court found a worker had been treated in a most unfair manner after dismissal and recommended that The Roundabout Limited reinstate him or pay £2,500 compensation. Its recommendation was dated 20 June 1994.
The worker had managed the Sports Bar at the Roundabout public house. He said he was dismissed without notice or a reason. The company did not attend the hearing or submit a defence. The Court criticised management for giving no reason for the dismissal and for not supporting the worker’s application for another post despite having given him a good reference.
