In 1994, the Labour Court recommended that Trinity College Dublin place a worker on the Executive II scale at its second point, £15,578 in October 1993, with effect from 1 October 1993. The recommendation was signed on 14 June 1994. The Building And Allied Trades Union argued that the worker had taken on his retired supervisor’s duties as well as his own. The College said his responsibilities were not equivalent to those of the former supervisor and that its usual procedures placed building supervisors on Executive III. The Court recommended the Executive II scale, with entry at its second point.
