In 1994, the Labour Court did not recommend upgrading for six laboratory assistants at Baxter Healthcare S.A. The recommendation was signed on 10 June 1994. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the assistants had taken on more complex and responsible work. Baxter argued that their work remained similar to that of other laboratory assistants and cited a company-union agreement renewed earlier in 1994. The Court said that agreement confirmed the current grading position and found no grounds to recommend the union’s claim at that time.
