The Labour Court recommended that the South Eastern Health Board concede The Irish Nurses Organisation's claim for retrospective dual-qualification allowance for two temporary nurses. It recommended payment in three six-monthly periods from 1 August 1994. The recommendation was signed on 15 June 1994. The nurses had received the dual-qualification salary scale until August 1986, then returned to it from 2 August 1991 after an arbitration report. The union sought the allowance for the intervening period, saying temporary nurses had provided the same care as permanent dual-qualified nurses.
