In 1994, the Labour Court recommended that Brinks Allied Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union appoint an independent third party to examine the company’s viability, labour costs and staffing arrangements, then use its report for urgent negotiations on the survival plan. The recommendation, signed on 26 May 1994, came as the Court said the company’s future and the jobs of 95 workers were at stake. It also recommended implementing matters agreed in principle, if necessary under protest, while final details were settled.
