In 1994, the Labour Court recommended a 30% machine rate for the new four-colour press at Guy And Company, replacing the union’s 66.50% claim and the company’s 24% offer. The recommendation was signed on 27 May 1994. The Graphical Paper And Media Union sought a rate for operating the press, which replaced older equipment. The recommended rate was to take effect from the date the machine began operating.
