Labour Court recommends union accept Waterford Foods’ overtime proposal with 3% rise

In 1994, the Labour Court recommended that the Technical Engineering And Electrical Union accept Waterford Foods’ proposal to reduce guaranteed overtime for seven electricians at its Dungarvan site. The recommendation was signed on 13 May 1994. The Court also recommended compensation under the agreed site formula and a 3% wage increase under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress, applied retrospectively for five months. It cited the plant’s viability, the need for cost-saving rationalisation and the workforce’s acceptance of the situation.
