In 1994, the Labour Court recommended new flexi-time arrangements for Ward International Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Technical Electrical Engineering Union, after finding the company should have referred proposed changes through agreed procedures before acting unilaterally. The recommendation was signed on 10 May 1994. The Court recommended a minimum 39-hour week, a monitoring committee and a £1,500 payment to each employee in full and final settlement of the dispute. It also set out arrangements for employees to return to work and for any necessary lay-offs to be handled in an orderly way.
