The Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union comply with its agreement with Kerry Ingredients Limited in a dispute over a proposed swipe-card system for recording who was on site during emergencies. The union had argued that the system operated outside paid working hours and sought a pay increase for workers’ cooperation. The Court found the dispute came within Clause 5 of the agreement and considered the company’s position reasonable. The recommendation was signed on 6 May 1994.
