In 1994, the Labour Court recommended changes to Thermal Heat Exchangers' survival plan after considering disputes over pay, redundancy terms and shift premiums. It recommended no pay increase in 1994, rises of 2% from 1 January 1995 and 2.5% from 1 January 1996, and redundancy pay of four weeks' pay per service year, inclusive of statutory entitlement. The recommendation was signed on 9 May 1994. The company had offered three weeks' pay per service year, while the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought five. The Court also recommended that the company's 25% evening-shift premium offer be accepted.
