In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that Donegal County Council concede the Irish Municipal Public And Civil Trade Union)'s claim to give four receptionist/telephonists officer status. The recommendation was dated 25 June. The union argued the four workers performed officer-grade work and had an established pay relationship with Grade II officers. The Council said officer posts required elected council action and ministerial sanction, and that three of the four had been recruited without competition. The Court recommended concession of the claim.
