The Labour Court recommended that Readymix Limited resume direct discussions with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Automobile General Engineering and Mechanical Operatives Union over a claimed 3% wage increase under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress. The recommendation was signed on 11 June 1993. The Court said progress had been held up by a misunderstanding over direct debit payments and that the parties did not have overall acceptance of the system. It recommended that Readymix seek reciprocal benefits by widening its flexibility proposals alongside a modified direct debit proposal.
