In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that a secretary/receptionist be reinstated immediately after finding she had been treated in a most unacceptable manner by M.J. Flood Limited. The recommendation was signed on 11 June. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that she had been employed by M.J. Flood (Ireland) Limited and that the business continued trading in Cork with the same employees except her. The company said she had never been its employee and that it had not taken over Willbrook Limited’s liabilities. M.J. Flood Limited did not attend the hearing.
