In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that Carima Limited pay a worker £100 after her dismissal. The recommendation was dated 28 April 1993. The worker said she had been taken to hospital on 26 September 1991 and could not contact management about her absence. She said she gave a medical certificate when she returned the next day. Carima said her work was slow and inaccurate and criticised her failure to notify management promptly. The Court found a breakdown in communication amid conflicting evidence about the medical documentation. It also noted that the worker had received a satisfactory reference and recommended the payment in light of the manner of her dismissal.
