In 1993, the Labour Court recommended accepting Leixlip Community School’s offer in a dispute over regrading a part-time cleaner as a school attendant. The recommendation was dated 29 March 1993. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that the worker’s duties included tasks beyond cleaning and warranted attendant grading. The school said the grade was not part of the community and comprehensive school structure and offered the minimum attendant rate used by the Kildare Vocational Educational Committee. The Court noted that the Lady Attendant post was being phased out.
