In 1993, the Labour Court recommended negotiations between W.M. Connolly And Sons Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union on a 3% local-bargaining claim, after reviewing the company accounts. The Court found no grounds to change the existing arrangements for the 39-hour week and recommended that protective-clothing arrangements continue. It said pay negotiations should take account of competitiveness, flexibility and employees’ contribution to change. The recommendation was signed on 15 March 1993.
