In 1993, the Labour Court recommended against a premium for library attendants' late-evening and Saturday work, but said Dublin Corporation's offer of a £2.80 weekly Saturday allowance should be accepted from 25 April 1991. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union sought a premium equal to one-eighth of basic pay. Dublin Corporation said attendants were already in pay group 15 and offered the standard Saturday allowance.
