In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that Teagasc make a once-off £600 payment to each claimant in a dispute brought by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over reduced earnings. The recommendation did not specify the number of claimants receiving the payment. The Court did not recommend compensation for reduced overtime, saying Teagasc had cut overtime across the organisation because of financial difficulties and now allocated it according to work needs. It also saw no basis to restore the milking allowance after the dairy herd was sold, but took account of how long claimants had received the allowance and the effect of recent events on their earnings.
Labour Court recommends £600 payment for each Teagasc claimant
