The Labour Court recommended that Hangar Industrial Doors Limited pay each of six redundant workers £1,000, inclusive of statutory entitlements where applicable, to settle a severance-pay claim by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was dated 3 November 1992. The union sought five weeks’ pay per year of service plus statutory redundancy. The company said it could offer only statutory terms because of its trading and financial position. The Court took the business’s financial position into account in recommending the settlement.
