In 1992, the Labour Court recommended that Tara Mines and the AMALGAMATED ENGINEERING UNION, TECHNICAL ENGINEERING AND ELECTRICAL UNION, UNION OF CONSTRUCTION ALLIED TRADES AND TECHNICIANS and THE CRAFT GROUP OF UNIONS resume negotiations over a union claim for a 3% pay increase. The Court said Clause 3 negotiations called for a trade-off and that the company's proposed counterclaims appeared to outweigh the maximum benefit available to workers. The unions sought an increase in return for operational concessions proposed by the company.
