In its recommendation dated 15 October 1992, the Labour Court set out terms for Sunday work, annual leave, sick pay and pay rates at TJC Limited, following a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. It recommended double time for Sunday overtime, or time plus one-third when Sunday was part of the normal working week, and 21 days’ annual leave, with the extra day at management’s discretion. The Court recommended sick pay after a three-day wait, with four weeks’ pay after one year of service and eight weeks after five years, less social welfare payments. It recommended Dublin Grocery J.I.C. rates for sales assistants and warehouse staff, and weekly pay of £180 for van drivers and £200 for lorry drivers. It also suggested informal refreshment breaks and recommended accepting the company’s proposed procedural agreement.
