In 1992, the Labour Court recommended that workers accept Irish Rail’s method of calculating compensation after a shift-roster change. The recommendation was dated 2 October 1992. The Shopworkers Trade Union Group said the payments were reduced by £300 to £400 because Irish Rail used an earlier earnings period than the union understood had been agreed. Irish Rail said it used the final year of the 24-hour roster. The Court found that calculation period appropriate.
