In 1992, the Labour Court recommended compensation for Tretorn Sports Limited maintenance workers after regular Saturday overtime was reduced. Workers with at least five years’ service were to receive £3,500; those with less service were to receive £1,800. The recommendation was dated 5 October 1992. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the overtime had been agreed in 1981 and its loss would cause financial hardship. Tretorn Sports disputed that a guarantee existed and said some overtime would continue. The Court said some overtime would remain but it could not estimate how much.
