In 1992, the Labour Court recommended that Bailey Gibson Limited calculate and pay four lithographic printers the net overtime earnings they lost during the six months after regular overtime stopped. The recommendation was dated 30 September 1992. The Court found that a 1986 agreement required regular rostered overtime. It said a business downturn meant the overtime could not continue, but notice of its discontinuation was inadequate and the issue should have been discussed with the parties before implementation. The Graphical Paper And Medical Union said the printers had relied on regular overtime for years; Bailey Gibson cited a downturn in business and losses.
