The Labour Court recommended that Rowntree Mackintosh Ireland’s position on guaranteed weekly hours for replacement drivers be accepted. It did not recommend the Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union’s claim for a 51-hour guaranteed week, finding the company’s interpretation of its 1989 agreement reasonable. The Court also recommended that the parties discuss special arrangements for two employees who had moved into road transport. Its recommendation was dated 30 September 1992.
