The Labour Court recommended interviews at age 21 for messengers to discuss promotion prospects, negotiations on a rate for those aged 25 and over without a promotion outlet, and continued training and job assistance. The recommendation was signed on 21 August 1992. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought higher pay and holiday entitlements for messenger boys at Irish Press Newspapers Limited. The Court found that promotion prospects had become very restricted. The company said messengers had received pay and leave benefits and had training opportunities.
