Labour Court rejects worker’s regrading claim at Dublin Port And Docks

In 1992, the Labour Court recommended that a worker’s claim for regrading at Dublin Port And Docks be rejected. The worker said his duties and responsibilities had increased after the wages office was reorganised; the Board said the workload had fallen and relied on an arbitrator’s recommendation against upgrading the post. The recommendation was signed on 18 August 1992. The worker argued that reduced staffing had saved the Board £20,000 a year while increasing his workload; that figure was an asserted saving, not an award.
