In 1992, the Labour Court recommended regrading for two workers at Klockner Moeller (Ireland) Limited. The recommendation, signed on 11 August 1992, said the worker operating computer-aided design should enter the clerical officer scale at its seventh point from 1 March 1992, with annual increments. The second worker should be similarly placed once trained in computer-aided design. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought regrading for the two electrical tracers or draughtspeople. The company opposed the claim, citing difficult trading conditions and the cost of increasing pay. The Court found that the job content of the computer-aided design operator merited regrading.
