In 1991, the Labour Court recommended that Peter Gilbourne T/A Euroterm Ireland pay an unnamed worker £1,425 for claimed amounts, less commission about which the Court had some doubt. The Court found that the worker's duties were subject to the employer's direction and control, so he was a worker. The worker claimed £1,715 in wage arrears, commission, car allowance and payment in lieu of notice. The company rejected the claim and argued he was an independent contractor. The recommendation was signed on 17 December 1991.
