The Labour Court upheld Braun (Ireland) Limited’s interpretation of its agreement with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over transferring a technician to a temporary electrician vacancy. The recommendation was signed on 21 November 1991. The union argued that the agreement did not give the company the right to transfer the technician in the circumstances and that arrangements should remain unchanged during the dispute. The Court read the relevant clause as supporting the company’s interpretation and said the status quo in this case was continued operation of the agreement. It found no breach of the agreement.
