Labour Court recommends PNR arrears for Milford bakery workers

The Labour Court recommended that Milford (Donegal) Bakery pay the final phase of the Programme for National Recovery from 1 October 1991, with arrears for 1 April 1990 to 30 September 1991 payable by 31 March 1993. The recommendation was signed on 21 November 1991. The Bakery and Food Workers’ Amalgamated Union had sought the agreed pay increases and a 39-hour week. The company cited financial difficulties, including 28 redundancies in 1990 and nine temporary lay-offs in October 1991. The Court also recommended that the parties meet to discuss production costs and the company’s viability, as well as pay terms under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress and the 39-hour week.
