The Labour Court recommended that Irish Rail pay a Waterford Railway Station worker two days’ pay after a dispute over a changed roster. The recommendation was dated 31 July 1991. The worker refused the amended roster and lost a week’s pay. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought withdrawal of a written warning and compensation for the lost pay. Irish Rail said the worker had sufficient notice and should have worked under protest, then used the grievance procedures. The Court also said the worker should have worked the rostered shift and pursued the issue through the procedures.
