In 1991, the Labour Court recommended that Michael McNamara And Company Limited pay £10,000 compensation as a full and final settlement for 14 bricklayers dismissed from the Texas Home Care site in Rathfarnham. The recommendation was dated 23 April 1991. The money was to be divided among the workers as they considered appropriate. The Building And Allied Trades' Union had sought reinstatement, saying bricklaying work remained at the site and that the workers were dismissed after insisting on the construction industry's registered employment agreement. The company said its contract work at the site was complete and each site operated as a separate employment unit. The Court found further work was necessary on the site when the workers were made redundant, but recommended compensation rather than reinstatement.
