The Labour Court recommended conceding the Local Government And Public Services Union’s claim for a travel allowance for staff at Oberstown Remand And Assessment Centre, part of the Department of Education. The recommendation was signed on 19 December 1990.
The Centre had moved temporarily from Whitehall, Dublin, to Oberstown, Lusk, Co. Dublin. The Court cited the temporary nature of the move and the lack of public transport serving the Centre. The dispute also concerned redeployment commitments after the relocation.
